Tennis courts to open at Pier 76 in New York in time for US Open – NBC New York

With the 2021 US Open kicking off later this month, tennis fans can bring the spirit of the Open to the heart of New York City with six pop-up courts at Pier 76.

From August 23 to 31, American Express will transform part of the pier into a tennis destination, with six tennis courts and an Amex lounge. The Amex Lounge will offer food and drink for purchase, ping pong tables and more for cardholders.

Courts and times are limited and must be booked with an American Express card. However, if you are not a card holder, you can stop by the courts, as they will be available on a first come, first served basis. Players are encouraged to bring their own equipment, including a tennis racquet and tennis balls. There is a maximum limit of four players per reservation.

Players must arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled time. Each reserved session lasts 55 minutes. If a player is more than 10 minutes late, the reservation is lost without refund.

Additionally, courts will follow COVID-19 security protocols. As per CDC guidelines, clients are recommended to wear a mask if they are not fully immunized. If you are showing symptoms of COVID-19, or have recently been exposed to COVID-19, they are asked not to attend.

Book a court now and enjoy the full experience! All proceeds from the $ 5 reservation fee will be donated to the USTA Foundation’s Excellence Program. The USTA Foundation’s Excellence Program is aimed at young players chosen on the basis of their tennis level, academic performance, and commitment to becoming student-athletes at the college and professional levels.
