Bears quarterback Justin Fields and wide receiver Darnell Mooney have been virtually inseparable this offseason.
The young couple have been training together since day one of the NFL offseason, where they worked to strengthen their connection.
There are plenty of reasons to be excited about the potential for the Fields-Mooney pairing in 2022. With an unproven receiving body, Mooney is Fields’ best option. So it’s no surprise that they worked together non-stop.
“Almost every week,” Mooney said, via Gadsden’s time. “But we get to work every time, every chance we get, that’s for sure. Like, any free time, anytime after practice. I mean, we are continuously working non-stop.
The Bears are setting up a new offense under offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, and it has been described as “very quarterback friendly.” From what we’ve heard this offseason, it involves a lot of what Fields does best, including using his mobility and deep-ball accuracy.
There’s been plenty of criticism for Chicago’s handling of Fields this offseason, including a questionable supporting cast. But Mooney expects big things from his quarterback in 2022.
“He’s going to be amazing,” Mooney said.
