The Chicago Bears have just ended a disappointing 2021 season. But wide receiver Darnell Mooney is wasting no time getting back to work for the 2022 season.
After Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Mooney was asked when he would start training for next season. And his response was enough to keep Bears fans hoping for a more promising 2022 season.
Mooney said he and quarterback Justin Fields will start offseason work on Monday after the team’s exit talks. Mooney and Fields will travel to Florida to begin training in the coming days.
“We start tomorrow,” Mooney said immediately after the game.

Fields and Mooney are two of the many reasons Bears fans should be excited as 2022 approaches, as they are two young players with high ceilings. Just think about what they can accomplish with an offensive guru in place.
While we got a glimpse of the threat the Fields-to-Mooney connection can pose, the pair didn’t have the opportunity to develop chemistry during training camp as Fields was relegated to the post of alternate quarterback.
Now the pair will have quite an offseason to train together and develop that chemistry further, and we should see the advantage of those reps when the Bears enter the field in 2022.
