Tennis fans can now book a match on the newly refurbished courts at Les Shore Reserve, Glenorie.
Recently completed works included the renovation of two existing tennis courts and the transformation of two additional courts into multipurpose areas for basketball and netball.
The Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi and MP for Berowra, MP Julian Leeser, recently inspected the courts.
“The realization of this project comes at the right time. With the recent end of the Australian Open, I’m sure The Hills tennis fans will be eager to grab their racquets and try out the upgraded courts at Les Shore Reserve,” said Mayor Gangemi.
“Additionally, basketball and netball are two of our fastest growing sports at The Hills, so these new courts will be highly sought after by our residents.
“Thank you to the Australian Government for investing in local infrastructure and grassroots sport in our rural areas,” Mayor Gangemi added.
“It’s wonderful to see the additions to this fantastic sports facility open and available for community use,” Mr Leeser said.
“The federal government will continue to provide grants that will ensure that more facilities like this are built and enjoyed by all in the future.”
This project was made possible by funding of $215,000 from the Australian Government through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program. This program helps local councils deliver priority road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
