Clevedon Pier to become World's Longest Skittle Alley To
raise funds for the Clevedon Pier Maintenance Fund, the regulars at the Royal Oak pub in Clevedon are organising a Skittle Fest on Clevedon Pier on Saturday June the 14th.Everyone is welcome to take part from 10am to
noon for just £1.00 a go for three balls, with the highest three scores winning prizes. From noon, sixteen local teams will take part in a competition for the Royal Oak Trophy sponsored by Blackthorn Cider. Landlord of
the Royal Oak, Frank Dimmer, has commissioned a special glass trophy engraved with Clevedon Pier for the winning team. To keep everyone entertained during the day, apart from the techniques used to bowl a skittle ball
300 feet or so down Clevedon Pier, will be Martyn Mills and the Beachcombers playing from the pavilion during the afternoon. The whole day is set off as soon as it is dark, by a free firework display arranged and
sponsored by Clevedon pyromaniacs, Firework Magic. With a raffle, collection buckets, and prizes ranging from a year's entry to the SS Great Britain, a trip for two on the 'Matthew', dinner and wine for four at Pizza
