What happens now? Not only
did Clevedon Women's Institute enjoy their usual cup of tea at the March meeting, but they also learnt a lot about the 'Cup that Cheers'. Mrs Hilary Everson became a Tea Ambassador following a course at Denman
College. She introduced members to the history of tea from Tea Blocks to Tea Bags and included the many varieties, perfumes and myths throughout her talk. Tea used to be drunk as an aperitif and it was some
while before it became an afternoon beverage surrounded by a strict etiquette. Teaspoons, silver tongs, tea-strainers have all become collectors' items over the years.
Mrs Ball and Mrs Hall made the timely announcement that they would be holding their annual Afternoon Cuppa on the 21st
May, with Bring and Buy, Plant Stall and delicious cakes. Everyone discussed organising a visit to the SS Great Britain, a Scrabble Evening and a Theatre Group. Members are looking forward to the Group Meeting on the 16
th April; the Spring Lunch on the 22nd April and the 15th April meeting when they will hear from a member of the British Institute for Brain Injured Children. |
