Help bring BT Broadband to Clevedon

You may already have seen the BT broadband adverts on television describing the benefits of ADSL services:-

  • FAST - up to 10 times faster than a modem
  • ALWAYS ON  No waiting to connect
  • Works over your existing BT phone line
  • Great value - as little as £20/month
  • No engaged tones
  • No more fighting over the phone line
  • Surf the net and make calls at the same time
  • Get live video, music and fast online gaming
  • No Internet time limits - no "2 hour" cut-off
  • No Internet call charges

There are two ways broadband can be provided, through a cable by a company like Telewest, or through the existing telephone lines proved by BT. Much of Clevedon is already covered by Telewest's Blueyonder service, but large areas remain unconnected and are currently without broadband. The only option for these areas is the BT ADSL service.

The equipment for ADSL services is NOT installed in the Clevedon exchange.

However BT has set up a pre-registration scheme which measures the potential level of demand for broadband in the Clevedon area.

When a level of demand has been registered with BT the equipment will be installed in the exchange and the benefits of broadband will be available for all.

This level of demand is known as the "trigger" - the Clevedon exchange has a trigger of 400 pre-registrations.

The current progress can be tracked here. This also indicates how close we are!

Even if you are not interested, or do not intend using broadband, you can still help the community by registering. To do this simply click the following link and submit your details (duplicate registrations are deleted).

Please remember you are only registering an INTEREST - there is absolutely NO OBLIGATION to receive or buy broadband services.
